Stunning Broadwater ViewsImage source:

There’s no ‘I’ in Schoolies. Well OK, there is, but there’s no ‘me’, ‘we’ or ‘us’. And it’s always important to take some much needed ‘me’ time out – especially before the mad rush of wide-eyed high school graduates from around the nation hits the Gold Coast with full force for their annual (and infamous), ‘Schoolies Week’ (which is really more of a ‘Schoolies Month’) from 17 November until early December 2018. Avoid the party scene (and the premium Gold Coast tariffs) at Sandcastles on the Broadwater, which offers families, couples and retirees alike a quiet, yet central, retreat on the Broadwater, far from the madding crowds; yet close to a wide array of restaurants, boutiques and attractions. If you haven’t stayed with us before, you won’t be disappointed. We have everything you need to make your stay indulgent and relaxing. Visit and BOOK NOW to enjoy a welcome reprieve from the pitter-patter of little Doc Marten-clad feet that is Schoolies Week (and don’t get me started on the silly season that is the mad Christmas rush…).

We might have just seen the shortest day of the year, but with Dreamworld’s extended trading hours – the park is now open until 5pm daily – the whole family can enjoy value-packed fun for even longer.

There’s the world-famous ‘big nine’ thrill rides (including the Claw, Tower of Terror II, Wipeout and Giant Drop) for daredevils; a host of cartoon (Shrek, Giggle & Hoot, Madagascar, Play School and Wiggles) themed attractions for the young (at heart); and wildlife and Indigenous themed shows performed daily throughout the park.

Dreamworld is also the proud home of Australia’s first LEGO® Certified Store, housing almost five tonnes of LEGO® (including ten life-size models of Stormtroopers, the Incredible Hulk and bespoke Dreamworld-inspired creations) – there’s even a ‘brick’ engraving station!

A number of park entry options are available including add-on entry to White Water World and Tiger Cub experiences with the adorable Melati and Mya. Visit to BOOK NOW.

Ironmen and women will go for ‘gold’ on 6 and 7 October, in one of the most gruelling endurance races on the surf sports calendar, the Coolangatta Gold. Originally inspired by Peter Schreck’s 1984 Australian film classic of the same name, the Gold has become so popular in subsequent years, under the management of Surf Life Saving Australia, that it’s continued successfully in its own right.

Partnered by Tourism & Events QLD and Coates Hire, athletes will complete an almost 42km long course (there’s also a short course and youth course) along the Coolangatta to Broadbeach shore, competing for $35 000 in prize money. Each race will include surfski, running, swimming and paddleboard legs.

Head to the Coolangatta beachfront for prime viewing of this FREE, quintessential Gold Coast event. BOOK your stay at Sandcastles on the Broadwater NOW to avoid missing this ‘golden’ opportunity!

The Australian motorsport community is ‘gearing’ up for the annual Vodafone Gold Coast 600 supercar event, which will take place from 19 to 21 October 2018. The world’s best drivers will follow a 2.96km circuit around the Broadwater precinct.

This year will mark the first inclusion of the Super Utes segment, replacing the traditional V8 Utes with dual-cab, turbo diesel machines including Holden Colorado, Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsibushi Triton, Mazda BT-50 and Isuzu D-Max contenders.

Meanwhile, the Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks, which can race on virtually any surface, will bring the high-octane sport of off-road racing to the main stage.

The Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia will also be a major drawcard, with the introduction of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, which is faster, safer and more affordable than its predecessors.

Boasting a 1.2 litre, 125bhp, twin-cam, 16 valve engine that revs to 11500rpm, the Aussie Racing Cars ll are set to prove that good things come in small packages, with speeds in excess of 200kph.

Don’t miss The ShowTime Freestyle Moto X, featuring Matt Mingay’s notorious Hot Wheels Stunt Team, for an adrenaline-filled display of dangerous motorbike stunts and aerial antics.

Stock up on your favourite team merchandise, enjoy a drink at the Coopers Roll Bar and grab a bite to eat. Staying at Sandcastles on the Broadwater? You’ll be so close to the action you’ll smell the burning rubber! Visit for more information on this exciting event.
