Spring is on its way, and that means warmer days, beautiful weather for swimming, and a range of packed schedule of events. Why not check out the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival for a fun day out, check out the Australian University Games or simply relax and enjoy a cocktail at one of the beautiful Gold Coast restaurants. As always, there is plenty to do on the coast from our world famous theme parks, multiple shopping precincts, stunning coastline and numerous restaurant options – there is always something new to experience.
The Australian University Games have been on since 1993 and have grown to be one of Australia’s largest multisport events. Held between the 23-29th of September across the Gold Coast this event is an opportunity for university athletes (some of whom are set to compete at the upcoming Olympics) to battle it out in a friendly but competitive environment. The event often attracts over 8,000 participants each year – so if you want to see the next Aussie Olympic hero in action – it’s a good place to catch our future champions.
For a true cultural experience check out the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival, their mission is: “Uniting the many diverse cultures on the Gold Coast and creating greater harmony and understanding with our cultural events”. It is held on Sunday the 6th of August at the Southport Broadwater Parklands from 10am until 4pm.
Why not try a variety of cuisines with food stalls from all across the globe, as well as art and craft stalls, multicultural films, interactive workshops and much more. It’s an event that celebrates the cultural diversity of our country and is an experience not to be missed. If you call yourself a food fanatic, you will want to check out the crowd favourite, the food stalls – with food from around the globe, you’ll have a tough time deciding what to eat.
If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, nothing beats a delicious cocktail and fresh tapas while watching the sun go down. There are dozens of restaurants and bars to choose from just minutes from Sandcastles on the Broadwater, but here are a few of our favourites!
Glass at Marine Mirage is a favourite amongst locals. With spectacular views overlooking the Broadwater and the marina; this is the perfect place to visit to enjoy the opulence of the coast. This modern Australian restaurant offers a delicious menu and an extensive range of cocktails.
Another option with the same spectacular views of the marina is Omeros Brothers. Known as one of the best seafood restaurants on the coast, you’ll definitely want to visit and the cocktails and sights are spectacular. Enjoy your drink and the view, or make it an evening affair and stay for dinner.
If you don’t mind the short drive into Surfers Paradise, FIX Bar located within the Hilton is a brilliant choice. It offers a cosier feels, with a vintage style and the cocktails are incredible.
