When visiting the coast you can’t go past a shopping trip to Harbour Town, it’s outlet shopping at its best. If you’re visiting from interstate make sure you get your VIP Tourism Card. The Gold Coast Show is another popular event, and for good reason. Held on September 1st-3rd at the Gold Coast Turf Club and Showgrounds in Bundall. The show has been in operation since 1952 when it was originally named The Southport Show until it was renamed in 1959 to it’s current name.
Each year there is a fireworks display, Australiana displays, show bags, stage shows, wood chops, side show alleys, roaming entertainment, and a free family circus! There are also a range of competitions held through the weekend, from arts and crafts and cake decorating competitions to best in show for dogs, goats, poultry, cattle, horses and even rodents. Plus there is the wood chop, where axe men travel from all over the state to compete, you won’t want to miss this event.
