Blues on Broadbeach
Blues on Broadbeach is one of the iconic Gold Coast events, held from May 18th-21st. Featuring artists like Bonnie Tyler, Ian Moss, Slim Jim Phantom Trio, Blues Arcadia, Little Billy, and Ezra Lee. It’s one of the largest free music festivals in the country, with stages and shows held throughout the streets of Broadbeach. In addition to the big name acts, the festival aims to highlight local Australian talent through a diverse program.
Wander through the main streets to discover hidden talents or get in early to get a good spot to watch your favourite acts. You can even book a table at one of the many restaurants, order dinner and truly enjoy ‘dinner and a show’. Just make sure you book early, as reservations can be hard to come by over the 4 days.
Koi Dining, La Porchetta and 1two3 are usually good picks to soak up the most atmosphere offering a delicious and diverse range of food plus they have, in past years, been front and centre for the main stage acts!
If you’re travelling with kids why not check out The Rockpools in Southport? Part of the Broadwater Parklands, this water feature includes a swimming lagoon on the beach, water jets and animal statues and a pool with water that isn’t too deep for the little ones.
Plus a little further south is the playground with its huge jumping pillow, pedal trains, flying fox, climbing equipment and much more. The area has its own café and is located just across the road from Australia Fair – there are also plenty of BBQ’s if you want to cook your own. It’s located in Mitchell Park (part of the Broadwater Parklands) just opposite North Street.
